The sounds that filled apartment 620 that night defined sorrow: the click of door as it shut, the sobbing of Mum in the corner, Paul cooing to her that “everything was going to be alright”, and the ripping away of the wall as Ira punched a hole in it. I could hear the moaning of the stairs as you descended them, having the nerve to just leave us all behind. More importantly, having the nerve to leave me behind.

I wrote something EMO? .-.“And so the time has come,” the black wind whispered in my ear. “Start digging.” I fell upon my knees and bowed my head in disgrace as I shoved my fingers into the earth and threw the handful of dirty aside. Long ago, this was the place I would lay on those nights that never seemed to end, and found reason for the stars and the moon. I would lie, and be grateful for having that moment of beauty, for being able to sit and adore the radiance of that night sky. It was those nights that made me desire life and make it through the day. Ironically so, considering that now, at this somber daybreak, I began planning my death.
